Camp cooking certification

Our girls camp is always held in August.  Usually there is a burn ban at the time, so for YWs on Wednesday, June 19th, we built fires and cooked to pass off the requirements.

The birthday girl is FIVE!

It's so hard for me to believe that my baby is now 5.  The time goes so fast.  She is a joy to our family and keeps us on our toes for sure.

Swim Take Over

As always the summer swim season take over our lives!  We have five swimmers this year. Practices begin in May.  With some colder weather we were a week late in starting.  On Saturday, June 1st we had our Mock Meet--a practice meet to give new swimmers a chance to experience what it will be like.  We got up and were at the pool early.  It was cloudy and overcast, but we proceeded with warm ups.  It sprinkled a little, but not bad.  So we let the meet begin.  We did a few heats and it began to sprinkle again.  As long as the lifeguards can see the bottom of the pool, we can swim.  On about the 5th heat, the rain began to really come down hard.  We ran for cover.  I had just sent one of my girls to the car for the umbrella.  Me and another lady ran up to where there is a covering for the start of the blue water slide.  When it didn't subside, we came down and took cover with everyone else under the Awnings at the pool.  Then the lightening and thunder started.  The meet was called.  Later at home my son said with all the water building up in the backyard just out past the deck:  "Apparently we could have held the mock meet at our house today."

A happy practice!

The following Saturday, June 8th, we had our first meet of the season in Bryant.  Then each Saturday in June there was another swim meet.

On June 13th, I did a cartwheel of the diving board.  I didn't realize how close to the bottom I went and so when I kicked to come back up, I scrapped my foot on the bottom of the pool.  OUCH!
