A trip to the ER shortly after returning from our trip!

Not long after we arrived home from our two day drive from Virginia, Zack required a trip to the ER. We unpacked the car and were giving the boys haircuts. Zack began jumping from our deck, over the bushes and onto the grass. When James saw him do it, he pointed out the green metal trim that lined between the grass and the flowerbed and told him to make sure he cleared it, or he would break his foot. Well, sure enough, a few jumps later he landed on the metal trim. But rather than break his foot, he just sliced it open.
He didn't cry afterwards, but ran to the front yard and then saw blood, so he came back. We brought him inside to clean it and check out the damage. Well, It was DEEP. He sliced nicely into his big toe from the underside. We took him to our friend who is a doctor and he could see clean into his foot and was concerned about the tendon. So, we were off to the ER. Too bad they never really took a good look at it. I hope it won't get infected and that there is not tendon damage.

The waiting room.

Being called back--FINALLY!

Some numbing drops.

Getting it clean.

Getting the shot to really numb it up. Zack went from laughing to crying in an instant.

Getting sewn up (without them ever really looking into the wound to see how bad the damage was. Just "It's a laceration. Let's stitch it up."

Four stitches!

Thomas Jefferson's home Monticello and other visits

Monticello is pronounced Mont-i-chell-o (not Mont-i-cell-o). You can only take photos outside or in the cellar. We were surprised at how much information from the tour that Zacky could remember days afterwards.

The Monticello graveyard. Zack snuck through the bars.

A stop at Michie Tavern.

We made a quick visit to the cemetary to see the childrens Great-Grandpa's gravesite...Fulton William Marshall, Senior.

Trip to Virginia

We were lucky to be able to travel to VA for Spring Break to visit G-ma and G-pa Marshall. We also tried to be of help in their huge yard. We cleaned up fallen limbs and cut firewood out of some of the bigger limbs. We also helped to mulch many many flower beds. All the kids were helpful.

Playing in G-ma's big tree was a big highlight for all the kidos.

Everyone one had fun making and decorating some Rice Krispy treat houses.

Sidnie's sleeping spot in the storage room.

Indiana Jones wannabe

My sweet little Spencer has become obsessed with Indiana Jones. Here is a photo of his get up after Indy got worn out. Stay tuned, he has a birthday coming up. Who knows what sort of great gifts he'll receive...

A new outlook

Kate got her new glasses today. Here's a quick shot of her new look.

She like the one of her not smiling (and thus not showing her braces).

A Few more Karate shots.

Newly "crowned" TaeKwonDo Yellow Belts!

Zack, Kammie and Kate tested to earn their Yellow Belts in TaeKwonDo this evening. James was on the video camera and Jordan was on the digital camera. Here are some of the best photos--some in action.

Cute girl in a new dress.

Sidnie looked cute in her new dress on Sunday, so I had to snap a few photos. Here they are.

Daylight Savings

Who thought up daylight savings time? To quote my dad: "I don't mind the Fall back as much as I don't like the Spring forward." After you get used to it (in a few weeks) all will be well, but right now--No way! They do it on a Saturday night so that you have Sunday to get used to it. I do not agree. The kids aren't tired Sunday night when you are trying to put them to bed an hour earlier than they are used to. And then when you try to wake them up an hour earlier the next day they are groggy and cranky. I guess that's why they didn't consult parents about the whole thing. And I supposed if I really felt strongly about it, I could move to Arizona. (I'll have to work on getting my husband a job there first though. And then, at least we'd be back in the West.)

With that said, it's now time to go continue the laundry--like all the good colonial women do on Monday's!

Spring?

Here in Arkansas (the South) we've been cold, then warm, cold, then warm and cold again. In the last few days we've had some great weather. My daffodils, have been trying to grow for a while. Last week they finally bloomed, but were bent clear over on the cold frosty mornings we had. Now they are doing much better. They look so nice and it's a reminder that spring is on it's way. (Too bad the grass is still dry and brown. But we don't want to have to start mowing anytime soon.) What a wonderful time of new growth--not just outside, but in our own lives if we will let it take place. I'm grateful to my Father in Heaven for His beautiful world.

A sewing project

I started out making a skirt for Sidnie, but ended up makeing the waistband part too small. So I decided it would be for my niece Lindzie. And I didn't want to leave my niece Scotlyn out, so I made her one too. All in all, three skirts later, they turned out just fine. (Sidnie's is like the top one.)

Jumper for Sidnie

I've been working on my sewing skills. I have a friend that is helping me with the parts that are beyond me. (In this case the top part of the jumper and the little floral thing behind the buttons.) [Thanks Amy!] I made this jumper for Sidnie today. Look how cute. I know it's long--she's just being modest or preparing for the prom.
