Field Trip to Heifer Village

On Monday, the 30th of September, the 2nd Graders went on a field trip to Heifer Village.  It was good to go with my boy, but it was long at times too (I'm not into global warming and we are destroying the planet.  Yes it's good to help those in need, but I don't buy all the rest.)
Viewing their gardens...
Getting on the bus to head home...
Bye sweet boy, see you back at the school...

I used my "free" time work on memorizing the 3rd paragraph of the Family Proclamation.  The first sentence was a killer and it took a while to master, but I got it..."In the pre-mortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their eternal Father, and accepted His plan, by which His children, could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress towards perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life."  [And I still got it, because, it is now Jan. 5th that I'm posting this and even 4 months later I can still recall that sentence without looking.]

Swim Meet

Kam's first swim meet of the Racers 2013 Fall season was a team meet hosted by the Racers.
 Jumping in for backstroke...
 On her mark...

 Individual Medley...
 200 Freestyle results board...
I got to be the Meet Marshal and wear this really cool vest to get some of my needed volunteer hours...

YM/YW Iron Chef Competition Activity

On September 25th, we had an Iron Chef competition where 3 teams cooked Pizza between for our combined Young Men/Young Women activity.  They had a secret ingredient and had to tie a spiritual theme into their presentation at the end.  They all had fun!
Anxious to see which team won...

Fleas!

The Halls decided they wouldn't let Pepe, the cat out this summer.  I think they didn't like that he lived at our house practically and not theirs, but they used the excuse that they didn't want anything to happen to him.  They did let us bring Pepe down to our house a couple of times.  Well, as Fall came, they decided they'd let the cat out at night.  Of course he came here.  We stopped letting Pepe inside, because we were sure he had fleas--even caught a few.  (They were lots smaller than the ones I encountered in Chile on my mission.  Dang small and super hard to catch.)  But here a few pictures before we stopped letting him inside for a while...

Dress up days at school

For Spirit Week and Red Ribbon Week they offered different ways for the kids to dress up.
At the High School they had a Disney Character day.
Jordan went as Cinderella, complete with "glass" slippers...
Kate went as Jesse from Toy Story...(we found a new use for the cow aprons as her chaps)
At the end of Spirit Week everyone was to dress up in school colors, but the Seniors got to dress up as Pirates to "take back the ship."
 Pink Day!
The Middle School's Nerd Day...
 Twin Day...
Decades Day (one 70s, one 80s)...

A.G. won the best costume for the day...
Superhero day...

Grandparents Day

Since we live so far from any family, I get to double as the adult that comes to lunch on grandparent day at the elementary school.
With my sweet Kindergartener...
 My 2nd Grader...
I couldn't find an online version of the photos with Zack, so I just had to snap a photo of the photos they sent home.
My Big Man on Campus...5th Grade!
[Zack's hair is super short, because he was playing with his gum before getting in the shower and somehow it ended up in his hair.  Had to cut it out and then shave his head to match the length.  Ug!]

Pirate Day (for free doughnuts)

September 19th, was Krispy Kreme's Pirate Day.  If you come in and say something like a pirate you can get a free doughnut.  But, if you dress up like a pirate, you can get a free dozen.  After school, the Littles and I dressed up for free heavenliness...
Some "selfies" on the iPad to get me in the photo too...
