Swim Meet - June 29, 2013

This is the Home swim meet we stayed to participate in.  Kammie was able to be one of the flag swimmers for the National Anthem, like Zack and Jordan were able to do for an earlier home meet.  It was a great day!
Sidnie swam her first 25 yard freestyle.  She was reluctant to get in, but we are so happy that she was able to do it.
Thanks to Coach Katie for swimming in the lane with her to make her feel safe.

Cross bite

Kamilita has a cross bite, aka an under bite, where her bottom teeth come in front of the top teeth when she bites down.  The orthodontist has looked at her teeth before and said she could use a tongue depressor stick to push out on her teeth when she was reading or watching TV.  This never worked out--she never took the time to do it.  So, we bit the bullet and got her a retainer to help push out the teeth at the end of June on the 27th before our trip.

BMX bike track for the Scouts

On Wednesday, June 26th, Spencer's cub scout pack had a biking night at the BMX bike track at a local park.  I was able to go with him and take his friend Jonathan Walz and Zack as well.  Thankfully there were other men there to help as Zack's bike chain came off twice.  I got it back on once, but it came right back off.  They were kind enough to help out the second time and to get it tightened up as well.

 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They had a great time.  I'm grateful for leaders who will plan and carry out activities that help my boys experience new things and that help them to learn and grow.

Maumelle Marlins

Team pictures for the swim team were held on Monday, June 24th.  It takes a while to get everyone in place.  And we don't order the pictures from the photographer, but rather, just snap some of our own.

When we are all done, we flush Coach Sarper out of the slide by turning on the water.

Sidnie was cold, so I took her into the showers to get warm.  I tried to snap a photo of her enjoying the warm water, but she was having way too much fun for a normal picture.

And they are off...

Kate and Jordan had EFY early in July.  With swim meets every Saturday and Mom being the assistant parent rep to the team this year, we felt like we couldn't miss two swim meets of the five regular ones held.  We opted to have Kate and Jordan fly to Utah on the 24th, spend the week with their grandparents, aunts (uncle) and cousins and the rest of us stayed for the home Meet on the 29th.  We started our journey driving later that day after the meet, but didn't have to rush to arrive by the 1st.  Then since Kate and Jordan would be at EFY the week of July 4th and would miss that time with family, it made it so they had some of that time on their own.  It had been a year and a half since we saw any Olsons, except for the brief trip G-ma and G-pa made here in June on their way to and from Nashville.

Here we are seeing them off at the airport on June 24th.
(Kam was babysitting and didn't get to come.)

Full Moon

On June 23rd, the moon was impressive.  We went out back to get a glimpse...
The camera really doesn't do it justice.

Zack got out his torch briefly as well.

Another Birthday Girl

Our oldest also has a birthday in June.  It's hard to believe Kate is 17 years old.  She's a Senior now!  Only one more year at home.  We are feeling the crunch and hope to teach her all she needs to know before she flies the coop.  We are grateful she made us parents and enjoy having her as part of our BIG family.

Kate chose chocolate creme brulee instead of cake.  She had to work, so we celebrated afterwards.
Then we opened presents.  (Spencer photo bombed the birthday girl's picture.)
 A card from G-ma.
 Sisters watching her open presents.
 Spencer being silly.
