This post will be backing up a bit. On June 2nd our Stake delivered food we had been collecting for the Arkansas Food Bank because they were at an all time low. Jordan decided to take on this as a 10 hour Personal Progress project. We went out and collected food several times in our neighborhood and then spent time sorting food and shopping for more needed food items with the money people had donated. Then on Saturday morning, our Stake went to deliver all the food we had collected. We were able to tour the food bank and help unload all the food as it arrived.
Our YW leader took some great pictures of Jordan, but I haven't gotten copies yet. So here are the two I snapped with the i-pod.
We filled one huge box on a pallet all the way and filled another one 3/4 of the way. Before we weighed the full one to see how many pounds it was, we guessed how much it would be. One volunteer at the Food Bank said 1,300 lbs. Someone else guessed 1,200 lbs. Karen Beheshti then guessed 1,201 lbs. Her husband, our Stake President guessed 1,800. I said around 1,100 pounds and settled with 1,111 lbs. When the weigh in was done, it teetered between 1,112-1,114. I win!
We are blessed to never go hungry and to have this opportunity to help those who are. We are grateful to all the generous people who donated so much.
