The first run they participated in for fun was an Easter Seals 5K on August 24th. Jordan had the advantage of still being 14, so she took first place in her female age group. Her time was 24:47.
The very next weekend was the Shiloh Christian Invitational in Fayetteville on the 31st of August. Jordan had to catch the bus at 5:15am to drive the 3 hours away. Only 3 girls were signed up and dedicated to running at the time--Not enough for a team score (you need 5). It was a really hot day and many overheated, including Caroline and Kayla who both dropped out of the race. Jordan doesn't start out too fast and was able to keep her steady pace going. She took 8th place in her division.

There was another cross country meet on the 7th of September. They had recruited
more runners for the girls team. They were able to get a team score and
took 8th of 15 teams. A decent start.
Jordan in action...
Jordan had her best time yet of 24:36.46 and was 54 of 163 runners. (33%)

They had a Tuesday meet only 35 minutes away on the 12th of September and I made arrangements for all my other children, so I could drive down and watch Jordan run. There were thunderstorms that postponed the race. I arrived and found the team on the bus just in time to find out that the meet was cancelled. All that and the chance to watch her run was foiled. On the 28th of September they participated in the Cyclone Invitational. Here is a photo of Jordan running there...
