Meet of Champs

We missed one regular season swim meet while traveling back from our vacation.  (Jordan missed two since she went to UT early to go to EFY.)  We were back in time to practice and to attend the Meet of Champs.  You qualify for the meet, by being a Platinum, Gold or Silver swimmer or by being one of the top 8 bronze swimmers.  (They added the Platinum level this year.)  So, Saturday, July 20th was the annual Meet of Champs.  10 and under swim in the morning [Spencer and Zack] and 11 and up swim in the afternoon [Kammie and Jordan].  That made it an all day even for us.  Yay!
Spencer qualified in 25 Freestyle, 25 Backstroke and 25 Butterfly.

 Results Board:  Spencer was in lane 8 and took 6th in his heat and 6th place in the Bronze division with a time of 24:05

And Spencer got DQ'd (disqualified) on his 25 butterfly.  We only got one time for him all year in butterfly.  Usually he'd get DQ because of doing a flutter kick or something else.  He was actually a better breast stroker, but he never got a time.  His last meet before meet of champs we were so excited that he didn't get DQ'd all they way across the pool, but then he didn't do a two had touch at the other side and so, the DQ came.  UG!  Maybe next year.

Zack qualified in every event, including the freestyle Relay team, as a Gold or Platinum level swimmer in each.  He hasn't yet caught the competitive spirit or killer instinct, so he's just there to participate.

 Results board:  Zack was in lane 8 and finished 7th in his heat with a time of 36.73 and took 15th place in the Gold division.

Zack finished his 50 back with a time of 45:54 and that was 12th place in the Gold Division.

 Zack was in lane 3 and finished 3rd in his heat with a time of 57.83 and took 7th in the Bronze division.

Results Board for IM:   Zack was in lane 1 and was 8th in his heat.  He must have been tired out at this point because he added 10 seconds to his score.  He finished 14th in the Gold division with a time of 1:46.26.

Team Relays were the last events of the morning.  Zack's Freestyle relay team finished in 3rd Place.  Here he is swimming his leg of the 100 yard event.

 A year round swim team was there and they had a fake Olympic Gold medal that they let the kids try on for photos.  A dream for the future...

On to the afternoon...
Team Relays were first for the older kids.  Kammie's team (11-12 year olds) took 3rd place and Jordan's team (13-14 year olds) took 4th place. 
Kammie qualified for everything except breaststroke, because strangely enough I forgot to have her swim that event this year.  Oh well.

Results Board:  Kammie was in lane 8 and finished 6th in her heat with a time of 31.59.  She took 3rd place in the Gold division.

 Resluts Board:  Kammie was in lane 4 and finished 3rd in her heat with a time of 39.05.  She finished 8th place in the Gold division.

Jordan was another one that qualified in every event.  Here's to a busy afternoon of swimming!

After a long day at the Pool, Jordan and I headed to a Stake Youth Dance over an hour's drive away.  I knew I didn't want to go in the shoes I had worn all day, so before we left that morning I grabbed a pair of sandals to wear later.  This is what I grabbed...

At least there was one right shoe and one left shoe.  I indeed didn't want to wear the other shoes I had worn all day, so this is how I went to the dance.
