PFE Boosterthon Fun Run

PFE held what was formerly known as the jog-a-thon.  They brought it a company to help this time.  Some things were better, some weren't.  But Zack was excited about getting pledges and earning prizes.  Both Spencer and Zack ran more than the maximum 35 laps.  Spencer ran 38 laps and Zack ran around 52 laps.  Zack raised $258.75 and Spencer got $38.75.

I was impressed with my son Zack.  I met a lady who's son is autistic and in Zack's class. I have heard about Jose' from Zack often.  Apparently she hears about Zack all the time at home as well from Jose'.  Zack and another friend, Nate Atwood, have taken to Jose'.  They help him and watch out for him.  When Zack and Nate had finished their laps (the maximum of 35), they continued to run, helping Jose' work his way around the circle and stand in line to get another check mark.  It was amazing they way they looked out for him.  His Mom told me she had been worried about integrating him into a regular classroom when they moved here, but she is very grateful for Zack and Nate for taking Jose' under their wing.  Instead of feeling awkward around him, they include him and help him.  She expressed thanks for teaching him well at home.  I'm glad Zack is able to be such a great friend and example.

Raft Wars

As a break from the usual at swimming, Coach Andrew had the kids build rafts and then race them on Friday, March 8th.  Zack was pouting when I arrived because he lost the race and his raft had fallen apart, but they mostly had fun anyway.

Zack had earned this free meal, so afterwards, I took him out to eat as my Date since James was out of the country.

PFE Literacy Night

Our elementary school held it's annual Literacy Night on March 5th.  We went for the pizza dinner and then participated in lots of games and activities.  I only got this picture of the book (cake) walk.  Spencer did it over and over and over until he finally won.  Sidnie and Zack played too.  We came home with many nice books from the book exchange or won as prizes.
Jordan is off the the left hand side in a pink shirt and blue jacket.  Spencer is to the right in a red shirt behind another kid in a red shirt.  Sidnie is their too, but not visible in the photo.

Pack Meeting

Spencer loves being a Tiger Cub Scout.  They had a pack meeting on February 26, 2013.  Even though his best buddy was sick that night, Spencer had a fun time.

Spencer's den was working on their weather belt loop, so they each drew part of this poster and explained it in front of the whole pack.

Sidnie's view, Rapunzel and picture day

I take Sidnie to Pre-K every morning.  Sometimes she plays on the iPad.  She likes to play games, but she also enjoys looking at pictures or videos we've taken.  Occasionally, she takes pictures.  This is one I found that gives her view of riding to school in the middle seat of the mini van...

The last week of February they celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by having all sorts of dress up days.  We forgot some days, but participated in dressing up as your favorite story book character on Friday March 1st.
At home, Rapunzel is ready to go...

I got her to put the wig on to show her teachers, but she wouldn't enter the classroom with the wig on.

On March 8th, it was school picture day.  Sidnie wanted me to curl her hair and she chose a dress to wear...

Daffodils

We haven't had much warm weather, but that still hasn't stopped my Daffodils.  They are bright and they bring a smile to my face to see them fight the cold and still look so good.

Don't let the Sunshine fool you.  We haven't had much of a Spring, especially for Spring Break.  The groundhog was WRONG this year.  We hope spring will come soon.  At least we didn't get snow...yet!

Horseback riding and a Stake Dance

Jordan loves her time riding horses on Saturdays.  But we've had a youth temple trip, youth conference and then she was sick, so it has been more misses than hits lately.

Here she is on February 23rd riding Hip Hop.  She got to jump the horse (in the arena) for the first time.

Here she is with Skittles on March 9th.
Video clips of her ride...
She had an interesting and somewhat scary incident on the 9th.  She was riding Skittles and practicing for Jumps.  Not actually doing jumps, but practicing.  I was busy doing some paperwork when I heard Sarah Bradley, the owner, say:  "No!  Don't stand up!"  I looked up in time to see Jordan loose her balance and fall off the horse.  It was like it was happening in slow motion, but I could do nothing to stop her fall or help.  She was rounding a corner and for a jump you are to raise up a little bit, but she stood up too much and lost her balance on the turn.  Scary!  She hit the ground.  The horse, took off like a shot.  I came from one direction and Sarah came from the other.  When she knew that Jordan was okay, she told me to stay where I was.  I wasn't going to be the one to help her get back up on the horse, and she didn't want Jordan to get emotional for me.  They caught the horse, brought him back and she got right back on.  We are very glad that she is okay.  A bit shaken and sore, but okay!

There was a bi-Stake dance on March 9th as well.  Kate and Jordan went.  Someone else snapped these pictures and sent them to me.

Behind

I'm behind on blogging.  Exactly one month ago I got all caught up.  Then life happens and I don't get back to it soon enough.  So, I'm behind again.  It has taken me hours to gather in pictures from all their sources (camera, iPhones, iPad, etc.)  Then I have to sort and label them, so I can have some sort of chronological order to them all.  Maybe I'll actually get to posting some tonight too.
